Log of schooner Daphne.

ArchivalResource

Log of schooner Daphne.

The early portion of the log, kept by William Tulloch, deals with trading voyages of the Daphne between Fowlers' Bay, Streaky Bay, Flinders Island and Port Adelaide, 1859-1860. The latter part, in an unknown hand, concerns a voyage from Brisbane to the Pacific Islands in search of native labour, 1869, with John C. Daggett, master. A note at the conclusion of the log, signed J.B. Thurston, Acting British Consul, Fiji and Tonga, shows it was examined at the Consulate, April, 1869. A further note indicates that the log was seized in the case of the Queen v. the ship Daphne, July 1869.
